Kitchenaid Classic Mixer Reviews and More!

Kitchen Aid Ice Cream Maker Review

I found a great way to make homemade ice cream, gelato & sorbet. I purchased a Kitchen Aid Ice Cream Maker Attachment for my KitchenAid Mixer. It does not matter what type of KitchenAid Mixer you might have, as this attachment fits all mixer styles made since 1919.

The process is fast and quite simple. First, place the mixing bowl in the freezer overnight. Mix up your ingredients the night before as well and place them in the refrigerator. About 2 hours prior to serving attach the dasher to your KitchenAid Mixer and add the ingredients. You can make up to as much as 2 quarts of sorbet, ice cream or gelato. In 15 minutes you will have sorbet and in 25 minutes homemade ice cream or gelato. Both can be eaten right out of the bowl unless you like a firm frozen treat. If so, then place the sorbet, gelato or ice cream in a plastic container and freeze for about 2 hours.

Do not keep your frozen concoction in the freezer bowl. I especially like cleaning up as it is quick and easy. All you have to do is hand wash the freezer bowl and place the attachment, adapter and drive assembly in the dishwasher. In no time at all you are done. And, you do not need to purchase any ice cream salt or spend the night hand cranking. This leaves you plenty of time to enjoy with your friends and family.

I recently made ice cream and cake for my daughter’s 8th birthday. First I used my KitchenAid mixer to make the cake batter. Then, during the party, the children gathered round my mixer and helped me pour the ingredients into the freezer bowl. They were delighted to watch the ice cream form before their very eyes. And, although it was a bit soft, we immediately ate it with the birthday cake.

Operating Suggestions

  1. Freeze the bowl at least 15 hours before making your frozen dessert.
  2. Plan on assembling your ingredients the night before and placing the mixture in the refrigerator. This will give them time to chill sufficiently. Do not put in the freezer.
  3. Do not use the freezer bowl as storage. Instead, store your product in another container. Plastic or Tupperware works great.
  4. When cleaning the freezer bowl after use, wait until it is room temperature before washing and drying.
